Students share. P4 LENDELLE RAYMOND: I guess when people think of pharmacy, they always think of their retail pharmacist at your local community. So they always think we’re just there to fill their prescription. Just count the pill, put them in, give them a 30-day supply. But of course, we are more than that. P4 JUSTICE KWANZA: I did not know about how many different fields the career of pharmacy had until I came to Touro College of Pharmacy. DESCRIPTION: Lendelle Raymond. P4 LENDELLE RAYMOND: You could specialize in infectious disease. P4 JUSTICE KWANZA: You could specialize in ambulatory care. Then we have the retail track, you know, Walgreens, Duane Reade. P2 AVIVA RAKHAMIMOVA: You can become anything from a nuclear pharmacist to a veterinary pharmacist. P4 LENDELLE RAYMOND: You could even work in advertising. P4 JUSTICE KWANZA: In hospitals, you could be a staff pharmacist. P4 MIR MAHMOOD: But right now, I see myself more in the pharmaceutical industry role. P4 MIR MAHMOOD: Almost every professor I knew had an open door policy. P4 VIVIANA ARCE: Professors here are experts in their field. You get infectious disease pharmacists teaching you infectious disease. You get cardiology specialists teaching you cardiology pharmacy. DESCRIPTION: Lendelle Raymond. P4 LENDELLE RAYMOND: They were there for you throughout the whole process. They guided you from really not knowing anything about pharmacy to eventually becoming the professional you’re about to be. DESCRIPTION: Imagine a unique curriculum that provides you with nine rotations. DESCRIPTION: MIR MAHMOOD P4 MIR MAHMOOD: They offer more real-life experience as opposed to most other pharmacy schools. During my ambulatory care rotations, I have been able to work with the HIV clinic. DESCRIPTION: Viviana Arce. P4 VIVIANA ARCE: I did medication therapy management. P2 AVIVA RAKHAMIMOVA: My first rotation was in retail pharmacy. P4 MIR MAHMOOD: I’ve worked with a clinical microbiology, and I’ve also done a research in public health. P4 JUSTICE KWANZA: Ambulatory care, internal medicine, acute care, IV, all of these rotations are experiences to make you better. And during this rotation is for you to figure out which field of pharmacy you thrive in and is ideal for you. Pharmacists are really the front line in health care. P4 VIVIANA ARCE: I want to be on the front lines of health care. I want to directly have an impact on patient’s life. P4 MIR MAHMOOD: But you’re that reference that patients can have access to. P4 LENDELLE RAYMOND: Getting my patients to live their happier life or better life, that would be the most rewarding part of being a pharmacist.
